This business was started in 1999 in Indulkana as a support for the Art Centre operating in the community. This community is on the Anangu Pitjantjatjara Yankunytjatjara Lands of South Australia.
The work done for the Art Centre was primarily in the following areas:
Information Technology – supporting the computer system in the office area with printers and other peripherals.
Construction – supporting the construction of frames for the lino prints (one of the main art works done at the Art Centre)
Help – supporting the general needs of the Art Centre such as remodelling the art gallery and moving equipment into the centre.
Since moving to Laura the business has developed through the needs of the groups in this area:
Information Technology – supporting the needs of people to develop their skills in computing. Selling their work online through our website at www.itch.net.au
Construction – supporting the art work done by artists through building the necessary support
Help – supporting local groups through organising displays and sales as well as through organising purchase of materials such as threads and lights as needed.
In 2007 a shop Scratch@ITCH was opened in the nearby Southern Flinders township of Gladstone to further support local artists, craftsmen and groups. Exhibitions, Craft Workshops and a range of art and craft are on display and for sale.
